Land Surveyor (Crew Chief)

BME Associates is currently hiring Land Surveyors for the position of field crew chief. The Survey Crew Chief functions as the lead staff member among a field survey crew.  They undertake all of the outlined activities and functions of a survey, with the added responsibilities of coordination with engineering groups and overall responsibility for field work of their specific survey crew.

A representative list of the essential functions and responsibilities for the position includes the following:

  • Supervise, direct, and participate in daily tasks of survey crew;
  • Compute right-of-way and property lines;
  • Research property records;
  • Verify land ownership for plans and plats according to public records;
  • Collect and prepare data files for property plats and topographical maps;
  • Accurately measures and records notes and sketches of work performed;
  • In-office responsibilities include compilation and tabulation of field data;
  • Coordination and communication with engineering groups pertaining to field requirements and data;
  • Continues training in current survey technology and techniques, and;
  • Responsible for Quality Assurance of all work performed by survey field crew.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates degree or higher preferred
  • Minimum of 5-6 years of field experience working on a field crew
  • Basic CAD skills and general computer literacy

Salary Range: $60,000 – $80,000 annually (dependent on years of experience)


Field Surveyor
BME Associates is currently hiring Land Surveyors for positions on a field crew.   The primary responsibilities of the Field Surveyor as a member of the field crew are focused on outside activities, including detailed project record keeping and utilizing proper field surveying methods and techniques.

A representative list of the essential functions and responsibilities for the position includes the following:

  • Participate in daily tasks of survey crew;
  • Compute right-of-way and property lines;
  • Research property records;
  • Accurately measures and records notes and sketches of work performed;
  • Collect and prepare data files for property plats and topographical maps;
  • Assist in construction stakeout calculations;
  • Routine maintenance and calibrations of field equipment, and;
  • Take directions from the Crew Chief as necessary to complete field survey tasks.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, Associates degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year field experience preferred.
  • Basic CAD skills.
  • General computer literacy.

Salary Range: $40,000 – $60,000 annually (dependent on years of experience)


Wetland Specialist I
BME is currently hiring for the role of a Wetland Specialist. The Wetland Specialist I is responsible for assisting with wetland delineations and environmental permitting in the field and office. Performs tasks under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager and works in tandem with all Project Team members. Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.

A representative list of the essential functions and responsibilities for the position includes the following:

  • Responsible for implementation of site environmental investigations including wetland delineations;
  • Independent drafting of technical and summary reports and documents and exhibits;
  • Assists with the preparation and administration of regulatory agency permits;
  • Assists with mitigation monitoring and reporting;
  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems;
  • Maintains excellent communications and relations with government agency personnel;
  • Performs basic CAD drafting;
  • Assists with complex designs and calculations;
  • Assists in preparation of project specifications and project documentation;
  • Performs basic site observations and drawing reviews;
  • Performs project base data collection, and;
  • Reviews and understands regulatory agency standards.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2-year degree required in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental investigation, field analysis, report writing and government agency coordination.
  • CAD and graphics experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well individually with minimal supervision, and as a team player.
  • Strong proficiency with Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, MS Outlook, and Civil3D.

Salary Range: $45,000 – $60,000 annually (dependent on years of experience)


Wetland Specialist II
BME is currently hiring for the role of a Wetland Specialist. The Wetland Specialist II is responsible for conducting environmental investigations, reports and field analysis for project sites. The Wetland Specialist II interacts with clients and regulatory agencies in order to obtain permits and jurisdictional determinations. They perform their tasks independently and under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager and works in tandem with all Project Team members. Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions. Responsible for solving unusual problems and utilizes sound professional judgement while completing tasks.

A representative list of the essential functions and responsibilities for the position includes the following:

  • Successful completion of assigned tasks to accomplish wetland delineations and other environmental projects;
  • Independent drafting of technical and summary reports, documents, and exhibits;
  • Independent preparation and administration of regulatory agency permits;
  • Coordination of mitigation monitoring and reporting;
  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems;
  • Maintains excellent communications and relations with clients and government agency personnel;
  • Performs basic CAD drafting;
  • Assists with complex designs and calculations;
  • Assists in preparation of project specifications and project documentation;
  • Performs complex site observations and drawing reviews;
  • Performs project base data collection;
  • Understands and interprets regulatory agency standards, regulations and requirements, and;
  • Monitors and stays current of regulatory agency standards.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2-year degree required in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or equivalent, 4-year degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of combined experience in environmental investigation, field analysis, report writing and government agency coordination.
  • CAD and graphics experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well individually with minimal supervision, and as a team player.
  • Strong proficiency with Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, MS Outlook, and Civil3D.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable vehicle.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Capable of walking long distances on potentially difficult terrain.
  • Must work outside in inclement weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, snow).
  • Willingness to attend training classes to obtain industry certifications, as necessary.

Salary Range: $50,000 – $80,000 annually (dependent on years of experience)
