Civil Project Engineer
BME Associates is currently seeking a Civil Project Engineer that will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of project oriented engineering.  BME is a privately held consulting Engineering and Land Surveying firm operating as a Design Professional Corporation (DPC) in the state of New York with approximately 30 employees. The Civil Project Engineer will be responsible for the implementation of individual projects at the direction of the Department Head and Project Manager and will coordinate workload, scheduling and prioritization for their assigned projects.  As an engineering professional, the Civil Project Engineer carries a first-line of responsibility for the quality and accuracy of technical work products.

A representative list of the essential functions and responsibilities for the position includes the following:

  • Scheduling and prioritization of work tasks within assigned project group to meet defined deadlines;
  • Coordination of information flow between other internal work groups to affect timely and efficient completion of project tasks as assigned by the Project Manager;
  • Responsible for execution of engineering and design in all conventional aspects of the subject matter;
  • Plans and conducts work requiring independent judgement and evaluation;
  • Directs basic and performs complex Civil 3D drafting;
  • Directs basic designs and calculations, such as grades and utility locations;
  • Performs complex designs and calculations;
  • Directs quantity takeoffs and basic construction cost estimates;
  • Assists in preparation of project specifications and project documentation;
  • Performs basic and complex site observations and drawing reviews;
  • Directs and performs project base data collection;
  • Will check drawings for quality assurance purposes and governing agency requirements;
  • Maintains excellent communications and relations with government agency personnel;
  • Maintains client relations; and
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: 

4 year degree in civil engineering or equivalent is required; 5 years’ experience in multiple aspects of civil engineering design; Civil 3D knowledge essential; Professional Engineer licensure or eligibility desired.


Civil Design Engineer
BME Associates is currently seeking a Civil Design Engineer that will be responsible for general design of all components of project sites. BME is a privately held consulting Engineering and Land Surveying firm operating as a Design Professional Corporation (DPC) in the state of New York with approximately 30 employees. The selected candidate will report directly to the Engineering Department Manager and will perform their tasks under the direction of the Project Engineer and Project Manager. Assistance is furnished on unusual problems and is reviewed for application of sound professional judgment.

A representative list of the essential functions and responsibilities for the position includes the following:

  • Responsible for execution of calculations and design in all conventional aspects of site engineering;
  • Plans and conducts work requiring independent judgment and evaluation;
  • Ability to perform most assignments with instructions as to the general results required;
  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems;
  • Maintains excellent communications and relations with government agency personnel;
  • Performs basic and complex CAD drafting and Civil 3D design;
  • Performs basic designs and calculations, such as grades and utility locations;
  • Performs quantity take-offs and basic construction cost estimates;

Site Planner/Landscape Architect
BME Associates is currently seeking a Site Planner/Landscape Architect that will be responsible to prepare and assist in the general design of land and site planning tasks for development projects. BME is a privately held Site Engineering consulting firm that serves the land development industry of the greater Rochester region. The firm operates as a Design Professional Corporation (DPC) in the State of New York with approximately 30 employees. The candidate would perform tasks under the direction of the Project Manager, Senior Landscape Architect, or Engineering Department Head and work collaboratively with other members of the design team.

A representative list of the essential functions and responsibilities for the position includes the following:

  • Responsible for preparation of Land Planning and Site Planning design for residential, commercial, institutional and recreational uses;
  • Prepares feasibility and property investigation studies and performs site reconnaissance;
  • Prepares conceptual development plans and master site plans for land use;
  • Prepares various development applications to include rezoning, special use permits, concept, site plans and variances, etc.; and
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 5 to 10 years of professional experience in Land Planning and/or Landscape Architecture;
  • Employment history in a design-driven studio environment;
  • Experience in contributing to collaborative project teams;
  • Demonstrated site and land planning design and technical skills;

Entry Level Landscape Designer/Site Planner

Stormwater Specialist
BME Associates is currently seeking a Stormwater Specialist to join our team. BME is a privately held consulting Engineering and Land Surveying firm operating as a Design Professional Corporation (DPC) in the state of New York with approximately 30 employees. The selected candidate will report directly to the Environmental Services Manager (primary); Construction Services Manager; Project Manager.

The Stormwater Specialist is responsible for conducting routine inspections as specified in the SWPPP. Provide continuous construction erosion control oversight of the project and communicate necessary changes to the appropriate individuals. Read and understand civil construction plans and topographical maps to verify site compliance. Review project Construction Erosion Control Plan and Project SWPPP for use of BMP’s and compliance with local and NYSDEC stormwater permit regulations. Identify BMP issues and coordinate with BMP installers to address items needed to bring the site back into compliance. Communicate inspection results with clients. Complete Compliance Observation Reports and identify corrective action items in a timely manner.

A representative list of the essential functions and responsibilities for the position includes the following:

  • Prepare/review construction erosion control plans;
  • Be involved with Stormwater Design by working with engineers;
  • Prepare Notice of Intent for projects (electronic submittal);
  • Prepare overall SWPPP for projects (excluding Stormwater Management Design);
  • Perform SWPPP inspections on BME projects or others according to current permit standards;
  • Maintain client/municipal/contractor communication and coordination for the erosion aspect for the duration of the project;
  • Prepare/issue SWPPP modifications/revisions during construction;
  • Prepare Notice of Termination;
  • Participate in Ontario-Wayne Stormwater Coalition;
  • Track policies, procedures and activities of the Monroe County Stormwater Coalition;
  • Update company by keeping current with DEC Stormwater Permits and Blue Book Standards;
  • Participate in local and regional stormwater conferences; and
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred;
  • Two years of environmental, stormwater and/or construction experience with at least 1 year of inspection experience;
  • CPESC Certification or NYSESCCP;
  • Experience in development of SWPPP documents a plus;
  • Solid understanding of storm water issues, construction practices, BMPs; and
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.


Construction Services Technician
BME Associates is currently seeking a Construction Services Technician (CST) to join our team. BME is a privately held consulting Engineering and Land Surveying firm operating as a Design Professional Corporation (DPC) in the state of New York with approximately 30 employees. The selected candidate will report directly to the Construction Services Manager.

The Construction Services Technician is responsible for representing the owner and communicating between owner(s) and their representatives, engineers, and municipalities, keeping all parties apprised of the job progress. As representative of the owner, it is the obligation of the CST to provide the necessary oversight during site work operations to ensure that construction is per the approved plans and specifications, and to communicate the status of the project based on schedule, budget, and work quality. The CST may, depending on the wishes of the owner, be on site full-time, part-time, or periodically.

A representative list of the essential functions and responsibilities for the position includes the following:

  • Communication between engineering team, field construction teams, survey field crews and clients;
  • Private and Municipal Construction Observations;
  • Project recordkeeping and reporting;
  • Testing and inspection of procedures and records;
  • Interpretation of plans and specifications;
  • Administration of project field changes or change orders;
  • Conducting and recordkeeping of progress meetings;
  • Application for payment review and approval;
  • Field record documentation for the duration of the project;
  • Punchlist preparation and administration;
  • Project closeout documentation;
  • Prepare utility record mapping; and
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Associates degree required, Construction Technology Degree or equivalent preferred;
  • Two years of field experience construction experience with at least 1 year of inspection experience;
  • NICET Level 1 Certification (preferred);
  • General computer skills with Microsoft Office;
  • Solid understanding of site work construction, construction practices; and
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
