Peter Vars, P.E BME Associates President
We are proud to announce that BME President, Peter Vars, is this year’s chosen recipient for the APWA’s Harry Swearingen Award for Outstanding Chapter Achievement and Excellent in Chapter Service!
The Harry Swearingen award was established in 1958 in memory of Harry Seller Swearingen, an active member who worked untiringly on behalf of the APWA and its purpose. This award recognizes individual achievement through chapter activity, as well as exceptional service to the APWA as a public or private sector member at the chapter level.
“The APWA awards committee could not think of a more deserving candidate for the Harry Swearingen award which signifies outstanding achievement and support of APWA’s plans, goal and objectives. For the past two decades Peter has dedicated countless hours of his time to assist the APWA Genesee Valley Chapter with numerous endeavors and activities. All Chapter members are grateful for his efforts.”- Mike Simon, APWA Awards Committee member.
BME professionals are actively involved in organizations within the engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, construction and environmental industries. The APWA has been a vital source of information about industry trends, news, regulations and processes that many of our staff and principals have look to and relied on over the years. We take pride in our involvement as the organization continues to be an advocate for public works professionals.
Peter, along with other recipients, will be honored on January 26th at the APWA’s annual awards banquet.
