BME’s Survey Technician, Kyle Mott, took 2nd place in the Subdivision Plat category in the NSPS National Map Plat competition. BME originally submitted 2 maps to the Annual New York State Association of Professional Land Surveyors (NYSAPLS) Conference contest earlier this year. We won first place in two categories: Subdivision Plat and Boundary Map and from there the maps were automatically entered into the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) map contest where we took 2nd place.
Each year the National Society of Professional Surveyors, Inc. opens the contest to surveyors all over the nation. Judging criteria is based on, innovation in layout, interpret-ability, presentation, applicability to typical client or persons using this type of map, neatness and accuracy of scale.
This year’s competition resulted in a total of 16 individual entries in the four (4) Journalism categories, and a total of 43 entries in the five (5) Map/Plat categories.
