Assess & Protect Your SWMF
Stormwater Ponds

Assess & Protect Your SWMF

October 20, 2021 Home, News

Post-Construction Stormwater Management Facility (SWMF) Assessments

SWMFs are built in many different shapes and sizes and the DEC’s Maintenance Guidance for Stormwater Management Practices recommends owners conduct at least one inspection per year. Inspections and frequent maintenance protect your facility and extends its useful life.

Bioretention Areas

Increasingly, Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s) are requiring owners of SWMFs (stormwater ponds, bioretention areas, infiltration basins, etc.) to submit inspection documentation to the municipality identifying the condition of the facility and recommended maintenance.

To learn more about your specific SWMF, review the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) developed for your project site and the DEC’s Maintenance Guidance Stormwater Management Practices.

BME’s Stormwater Specialists regularly perform SWMF Assessments. Please contact Kim Boyd to schedule an assessment.
